CIVIDATE AL PIANO: Lungo la via XXV aprile, in prossimità dell'antico fossato che circondava Cividate, si scorge un grande arco in pietra bianca di Zandobbio dalla fine modanatura ottocentesca che dà accesso al cortile del palazzo Muzio. All'inizio dell'Ottocento Bernardo Muzio decideva di costruire la propria dimora in questa parte della contrada del Piazzolo, trasformando, con un ben definito progetto, dei preesistenti edifici rustici. L'operazione richiedeva l'acquisizione di alcuni lotti appartenenti a vari proprietari: la 'casa d'affitto' sull'angolo della via, di proprietà Emilia Gandini Barcella quondam Bartolomeo, un'altra 'casa di propria abitazione' con orto ad essa adiacente, appartenente a Luigi Galotti quondam Giuseppe, e infine una porzione dell'orto di don Pier Luigi Motterlini. Una volta completate le operazioni immobiliari iniziava l'intervento di ristrutturazione generale mirato ad unificare le proprietà, conferendo al complesso un aspetto unitario dal linguaggio nobile e ordinato e aggiornando gli ambienti interni preesistenti secondo le funzioni e i gusti dell'epoca. Il lato prospettante sulla strada veniva occupato da un portico interno formato da tre ariose campate coperte ognuna da una volta in mattoni sapientemente posati a padiglione dove, in corrispondenza della campata centrale, si apriva l'ampio ingresso carrale. Il corpo adiacente verso monte, quello più antico, veniva prolungato per realizzare una nuova scala, alcuni piccoli locali e una torretta
