Homes in Italy under $1M
$1 million in Italy delivers the dream in most regions. Renovated Tuscan villas with vineyards, Umbrian country houses with pools, Amalfi Coast apartments in Positano or Amalfi town (small, but real), Rome two-beds in the historic center or Trastevere proper, Milan's Brera or Navigli, and Venice apartments on minor canals. Lake Como's top tier still requires $2M+ for true lakefront, but $1M gets a serious villa one street back. Tuscany and Umbria remain the strongholds of American buyers. Italian property tax (IMU) applies mainly to second homes at 0.4-0.76%, and non-resident buyers pay higher IMU rates.
