Homes in South Korea under $1M
$1 million in South Korea is comfortably upper-class. Apartments in Gangnam-gu's Yeoksam or Dogok, large three-beds in Yongsan's Hannam-dong, Mapo's Hapjeong, or Seongdong's Seongsu. Busan's Marine City high-rises with ocean views. Still not Apgujeong or Cheongdam penthouse money — those easily clear $3-5M — but a real family apartment in prime school districts with high resale value. Gangnam's so-called hakgun (school districts) add significant premium. Annual property tax is typically $2-5K on homes in this range, plus a separate comprehensive real estate tax for high-value holdings.
