Homes in Switzerland under $300K

$300,000 is below the Swiss housing floor for anything you would call a home. A small studio in secondary cities (Biel/Bienne, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Lugano outskirts) might exist, but the supply is thin and the quality poor. Foreign ownership restrictions (Lex Koller) apply rigorously โ€” residents with C permits can buy anywhere, B-permit holders can buy their own home only, and tourists face strict quotas and ski-resort area restrictions. Unless you are already relocating for work with a permit, this tier does not make sense.

B Permit (Residence) โ€” requires employer sponsorship with proof no Swiss/EU worker can fill the role. Annual quota of 4,500 permits for non-EU nationals (2026). Must be a manager, specialist, or university graduate. L Permit (Short-term) โ€” for contracts under 1 year, same sponsorship requirements but easier quota access.
